About Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, tightly bordered by mountains, evergreens, and miles of national forest terrain. The water is glacial blue and the second deepest lake in the United States.  It’s a popular tourist destination for winter and summer sports, spas, and boating.

Festivals and Events

Tahoe is not only beautiful but so close to Reno that the entire resort area gets a lot of live entertainment attention. The music concert scene is diverse and active all year round ranging from small gatherings on the lake to larger venues. Remember to be on the lookout for seasonal festivals for both music and art. The last few years, the area has been hosting an annual Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival at the Hard Rock Café that is not to be missed. Check out Tahoe’s events calendar for more details: http://tahoesouth.com/events/.

Photo Tours

Anyone that likes photography (or wants to develop an interest) should check out the Tahoe photo tours. The guides are locals, photographers, and teachers who want to share the beauty of their home with you and help you capture on film to share with others. You do not need to be an experienced photographer—all are welcome. With the tours you will be chauffeured from area to area and will have access to prime photography spots that are off the beaten path and not normally accessible to tourists.  Your guide will make sure you come home with memories; guides will photograph you and your party in the entire Tahoe splendor as souvenirs of your trip. Vikingsholm

This castle built in 1860 is a prime spot to take in the Tahoe scenery. Situated on the waters of Emerald Bay, the castle is one of the few examples of Scandinavian architecture left in America. The house is open for tours, $10 for adults, and includes a nature walk around the Eagle Waterfalls.
