An Entertainment Getaway
Known for its skiing and outdoorsy attraction, Branson is tucked into the exquisite Ozark Mountains and is home to much more than winter sports and hiking. There are a vast number of shows, exhibits, and novelty experiences to explore in the area. The paramount of all of these has to be the Titanic Museum Attraction, a real life mock up of the fateful ship and iceberg destroyed in the North Atlantic, April 14th, 1912, while on its way to New York Harbor.
Visitors to the ship are given boarding passes that belonged to an actual passenger. The proprietors feel the best way to honor the Titanic is to tell the story of all those who were on board. The medium is interactive; “crew members” may shovel coal in the Boiler Room, learn how to send an SOS distress signal, and sit in a lifeboat. Passengers may also experience the sloping decks from the ship’s plunge into the ocean, touch an iceberg, and feel what 28-degree water would have felt like to the unfortunate crew. At the end of the tour, passengers walk the infamous grand staircase and find out if the fate of their passenger in the Memorial Room. Tickets start at $25 for adults. Promise Land Zoo
Branson is a great vacation spot for families, in part because of the Promise Land Zoo. They care for quite a collection of exotic animals and pride themselves on their array of animal shows and exhibits for guest to enjoy. Kids will especially enjoy the baby animal bottle feeding where they get to help nurse the zoo’s tiniest members. There are also live animal shows and foot safaris which are both fun and educational. The Branson Zoo believes that tactile contact is the best way to teach people about animals and will offer you the chance to play with a creature that is not on display in their animal shows. Their Exclusive Encounters actually allows for twenty minutes of “play time” in the cages with the animals (monkeys, for instance) where the guest can feed, pet, and get to know an exotic creature. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children. For more information visit: http://www.plzoo.com/branson/.
