Make an unforgettable memory by swimming with the dolphins. UNEXSO allows visitors to take a 2.5-hour swim with a set of them with no experience required. Be prepared to make a new friend. These delightful creatures love to play, give kisses, and are particularly good with children. It’s an experience no to be missed.
For the more adventurous shark encounters are also offered. You are invited to deep sea dive and observe sharks in their natural habitat. You’ll see their curiosity and grace as you watch them watching you from inside a shark-safe cage. Then bait will be released revealing the sheer chomping power of these animals. A diver’s certification is required. If you don’t already have a certification you may take a 3-day course in diving to prepare you for your adventure. Lucayan National Park
Generally, tourists are prohibited from exploring the underwater caverns of the Bahamas but an exception is made for Lucayan Park. With over 40-acres of mangroves and palm trees, this lush paradise has something for everyone. Paired with the white sand beaches are two underwater limestone caves that visitors are free to explore, one of which was a major archeological site in 1986 and both are considered to be one of the largest underwater caves in the world. There is also extensive kayaking (rentals available) and horseback riding on the beach. The beaches near the park are known for the plethora of seashells that wash up along the shore so be sure to take a stroll and pick up a souvenir for yourself.
Port Lucaya Marketplace
Attention Shoppers: Port Lucaya Marketplace has some of the best bargains you’ll find in the Bahamas. Negotiators will be in best-price heaven as they explore the 80 different shops and vendors available at this shopping village. Shoppers can find anything from perfume to hand-made products to take home as souvenirs. When you’re ready for a break stop by Count Basie Square and have lunch at one of the 30 eateries specializing in island cuisine. It’s a nice spot to rest with a great atmosphere owed largely in part to the local bands that play under the gazebo. The great thing about this activity is that visitors can spend as much or as little time as they want there and still feel as if they have gotten the most out of it.
