About Huntington Beach
This beach town features ten miles of clean coastline, nightlife, and some of the best surfing on the California coast. Every year, Huntington hosts the U.S. Open of Surfing beginning at the south side of the pier. In the winter months, the town holds the Cruise of Lights Boat Tour. It’s a light show and parade of decked out Christmas boats that can be seen from land. Tours are offered for guests that would like to see the lights on decorated seaside homes.
Surf City Nights
A staple of Huntington family-friendly entertainment is Surf City Nights held every Tuesday. There is live entertainment from local musicians, a farmer’s market, and international food court, and a night art market. There are also activities for children of all ages. This weekly street festival is a great introduction to the city and a perfect way to wrap up a day at the beach. Check out their website for more details: http://www.surfcitynights.com/start.
Surfing is such a huge part of the culture of the area that you can’t go to Huntington Beach without catching some waves. If you don’t already know how to surf, or if it’s been a while since you’ve stood up on a board, then you should consider enrolling in some day classes at one of the many surf schools in the area. This is a great activity for children. The instructors will teach them to surf safely all while making the experience a fun adventure that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Choose a program and hit the surf!
