About Island Park
Island Park is a place for outdoorsy types and solitude seekers alike. Peaceful and tranquil, this tiny resort town is a short drive away from the western end of Yellowstone National Park, only a day trip to see Old Faithful or the Mammoth Hot Springs. Island Park claims to have the best fly-fishing in the world and is a mecca for winter mountain sports.
Mack’s Inn Playhouse
For dinner and a show, go to Mack’s, the premier authority on comedic musical spoofs in Idaho. Some of their titles include Phantom of the Grand Ole Opera, Home School Musical, and Pirates of the Car-Rib-Bee-An. Cost is below $30 per person for both dinner and a show. Show tickets can be purchased without the meal for $16 for adults. Check out their website for more details: http://www.macksinnplayhouse.com/.
Idaho is home to a plethora of natural attractions, namely the hot springs and waterfalls. Mesa Falls is about fifteen minutes outside of Island Park. It’s a hike up to the observation catwalk and to the breathtaking curtain of natural waterfall, enough to satisfy any outdoorsy person. After that, head up to Shoshone Falls on Snake River. Shoshone Falls are 212 feet which is actually a higher altitude than Niagara Falls. Shoshone is a lovely spot for a family picnic or bike ride.
